I've decided to do the tag that just about everyone has done already, so I don't know who to credit with having tagged me to name seven interesting facts about myself. Here they are:
1. I
thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 96' from Georgia to Maine where I met my husband beside a river in Tennessee who was also
thru-hiking northbound. This is also where I acquired my name Heidi which is still what everyone calls me today even though my real name is completely different!
2. I have never been even a minute late to a job in my entire life. None of my employer's ever noticed this about me, except for the last place I worked at in Michigan. So, of course I happened to marry a man who is always late for everything!
Hmmm...
3. I have lived over 5 years in Germany and Austria. Three years I studied German at a University in Austria and years later I taught skiing and sailing for the Armed Forces in Germany.
4. About the only food I don't like is watermelon. Well, I guess I am not too crazy about broad beans or
brussel sprouts either.
5. I survived being held up at gunpoint in Mexico when I was only 19 and on an language exchange program in college!
6. I once lived camped on a beach in Hawaii for over seven months with an ex-boyfriend and only spent 1,200 dollars the entire time while we lived mainly on fish, fruit and coconuts.
7. I traveled to India and Nepal on my own where I spent most of my time hiking the
AnnaPurna Circuit. I did get a chance to try river kayaking and paragliding too, though.
Well, that is that. I guess it makes me sound a bit like a vagabond or something like that, but really I am a happy house mouse that loves quiet farm living! Do you like our sunset view?
I just thought I would update the progress on my most recent quilt top Sunshine. The blocks are now finished (30) so hopefully I will be able to finish sewing it together and adding a border soon. I wish it could have been bigger, but it will make a nice throw for someone. We will see...
After nearly two years we finally got our couches for the sitting area yesterday! Slowly slowly we will get our little house furnished. The sideboard we borrowed from my MIL until we can afford something else to put the TV on. It's so fun to be able to have somewhere to sit down finally!
Here is a photo of Sunshine by Moda, I only got the fat quarters with blue and yellow as I have been wanting to make a blue and yellow quilt for quite some time now. I am making blocks like in the second photo, one of each fat quarter for a total of 30. It's going to have to be a smaller quilt since I didn't have very much of the blue batik fabric. The block is a hens and chicks design I got from the book, "Quilts from the Quilt Maker's Gift", by Joanne Larsen Line.
Here is a progress report of my latest quilt project, Nell's Flower Shop. This is my own design, which I am quite pleased with now that the blocks have the black sashing sewn around them. I think I will just add a red and cream toile border around what I have there already and call it a finished top. My original plan will make the quilt too big and since my MIL likes this quilt, it will be going to her and doesn't need to be very big.

I finished the Folklorique top last night and took a few pictures. I was quite pleased that I was able to use most of the fat quarter bundle. I have just a few small pieces leftover that will one day go to a very scrappy quilt that I am collecting tiny pieces for. One day...
Look what came in the mail today! I have been salivating over this collection Charm by Amy Butler (out of print) and when I found it listed on ebay I had to have it! The seller quiltplay was excellent and lovely to deal with (she also put in a few extra goodies!) and friendly like most Canadians seem to be. I have some ideas what I would like to do with this fabric, but I will thinking/dreaming about it while they're in the wash.
I finished all the four patches for the body of the quilt today and now I just need to rearrange and sew together what is there and then start on the borders. I am enjoying this project. 
I thought I would update everyone as to what I am doing with the Folklorique Moda fabric. It's quite a simple design that I saw in a Kaffe Fassett book in which he designed a quilt called Moody Blues (in the top picture). When I saw the Folklorique fabric I fell in love with the beautiful blue fabric and thought that a little bit of blue (and red) would go a long way with the rest of the more neutral fabrics. Well, we'll see how it turns out, but so far it's coming out a lot like the way I had hoped it would. At the moment I have all the four patches sewn, I am just busy trying to get the tiny blue and red corners sewn on. Fun fun!
