Farm Life

Since we are in the middle of shearing time, I thought I would share with you a few pictures of life here around the farm.

This is the original farmhouse that was built way back when. We only use it as a shed house now, but it is interesting to imagine what it would have been like to live in it.
Here are the sheep just Before they head in the shed to be shorn!

This is how the sheep look right after they have been shorn. These ones are waiting to be counted before heading back to their lovely green grass.

We have space for only three shearers on the board. Here they are working hard keeping the wool flying!

This is dh working hard at skirting and classing the wool. The wool classer is top man in the shed and doesn't dh like to let us know it!

This looks so picturesque! No wonder you were able to leave the US and live in Oz - so pretty where you are. I've been in a few sheep sheds in my time (being from NZ and all!) and remember the delightful scent lol!

Did you do anything for Thanksgiving? Did you notice what a non-event it is in that part of the world?!! Happy belated Thanksgiving to you :) I have enjoyed seeing all your gorgeous pillows/CD boxes etc lately. Really really nice stuff!

What an exciting life you must have Down Under. I'd be thrilled just to visit that country but with three children, one heading to college next year, a six-day-a-week job, etc., doubt I'll ever make it. I'll just have to visit your blog often and dream of another life. Love the pix of the sheep and the old house.

I think the old farm house would make a great quilting studio. You must be very busy with all that preserving. I am growing some veges too, but my pumpkins, cucumbers and zucchini are all getting fungus on the leaves and dying. Too humid I think. Show us a photo of the vege patch please?

Thanks for these pictures. I remember being fascinated by sheep shearing when I was a kid on a farm in Missouri long ago. It was about the only big farm event that didn't hurt the animals. You never seem to see it anywhere in the states anymore. It's also fun to see you and your cherries while it's snowing like crazy here! Merry Christmas.
