An Authentic Finish

When Authentic by Sweetwater first came out, I was instantly obsessed!  Text prints! How cool?  I'm not sure I ever purchased so much of one fabric up until that time as I did of that newspaper print!  I remember thinking at the time, why oh why don't they make more text fabrics.  Ha!  And to my delight they are now everywhere!  I'm finally getting around to photographing (trying a new set-up that I need to experiment with more) the gigantic quilt that I made with these fabrics.  This is a king size--to the full extent!  I think it measures 118 inches square!  It will soon be traveling by boat over the ocean blue to its new owner.  Maybe it will arrive before Christmas?

Anyway, this was a design I came up with, it's applique on applique.  I sewed circles onto the newsprint fabrics using vliesofix and a tiny blanket stitch around the circle.  Then I chopped it in half twice and sewed the 4 patch blocks.  Once those were together I added another layer of circles using the vliesofix and blanket stitch yet again.  In the end, it made quite a thick layer in the middle of each block.  If I did it again, I would cut the backs out of each one to reduce the bulk, but it really isn't too thick regardless.  My Gammill sews through the layers without any issues so all is good!

I seriously love this one! I came to quilting waaaay after Au-then-tic was around, which is a shame - the colors and prints are perfect. I love how you've designed this - I may have to steal your method ;o)

Beautiful work as always!! I was chuckling to myself....you do love the circles/drunkards path! If you have any leftovers especially of the green text prints I would love to swap for some.

This is my absolute favorite line. I still haven't cut into my bundle as I want to make a queen sized quilt and want to ensure I use every scrap!!

Oh, Jeannette!...I love, love, love your quilt! What a great line of fabric for your design. I'm sure that it's text is a main attraction for me. I'm wishing I could find more text prints. What a beautiful job you've done!
