I'm still here! I'm nearly caught up with my long list of things that needed to get done! I did manage to sneak in some time to finish this quilt started at the workshop. I didn't want to leave it too long to finish so that I would keep the momentum I had from attending the class with Kaffe Fassett.
I have to say, that though this quilt looks so deceivingly simple in design, there is actually quite a bit involved. I had it on the design wall for two weeks, cutting and adding to it, rearranging the layout nearly everyday before I was satisfied enough with the layout to sew it up. Perhaps I did get to the stage where I started to over think the process, but I feel like I learned a lot from making this quilt. I may try it again in a different colour combination to see if the process is easier the second time around. I also feel inspired to finish off some old Kaffe Fassett projects started years and years ago and possible start another one!
Hi, tried to leave a comment in Bloglovin platform, but it wouldn't let me. I absolutely love this quilt. You did a fantastic job with it! I couldn't believe when it said you had no comments. You should probably check it out. Too gorgeous for words.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely quilt. I don't think it would be any easier second time round. I've made a bordered diamonds quilt myself and it took a long time - mind you I made mine even bigger to fit a queen sized bed. Your's looks great in Kaffe fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a beautiful quilt. Love the colours and patterns, so eye catching and bold. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's just gorgeous Jeannette. You should be really stoked with how this quilt has turned out. I so wish I'd been along to see Kaffe Fassett while he was in Australia as I really love using his fabrics. Very jealous! Thanks for sharing this quilt with us all......
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! A great way of displaying all those gorgeous Kaffe fabrics!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Love how you place fabrics. Smart woman to finish it while workshop fresh in your mind. Thanks for sharing. It helps all of us who cannot attend. Awesome.

ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! Gorgeous colors, and I spot both Kaffe and Anna Maria Horner, and they seem to really get along well! I also love the color combinations you did, on the diamonds. Did you have any special thoghts or ideas that you followed, while you were doing the color combinations?
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I love it!!!
I also did a workshop with Kaffe a few weeks ago so congratulate you on nailing the lessons! I am still struggling with balance...
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt. So suits Kaffe's fabrics too.
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to make a Kaffe Fasset bordered diamonds quilt - this is so beautiful. I think I better start collecting fabrics :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous. Love everything about it. I also love Kaffe fabric and his designs. Haven't gotten to the point of trying anything yet...
ReplyDeleteWow what a beautiful quilt with the colours you chose!

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of home, Jeannette! I agree with Cindy Dahlgren. This quilt is just "too gorgeous for words."
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I struggle to use Kaffe fabrics. I have an idea and get started but then it just seems hard! You have been very successful with this quilt - I love the range of colours in it.
