Far Far Away Sandcastle Quilt Finish

This quilt has been sitting in my closet for quite some time now.  I finally decided this weekend that it needed to be quilted now!  Not really for any particular reason though.  The fabric was purchased in case Alexander was going to be a girl and the quilt was made in case Oliver was going to be a girl, if that makes any sense.  Still, it was a quilt that had to be made as an escape from all the boy energy around here. Lol.

I have said this before and I will say it again, it takes dedication to a fabric designer when you decide you love their fabric enough that you will use a double gauze to piece a quilt top with!  I do love these Far Far Away prints by Heather Ross!  I probably should have chosen a simpler design to use with the double gauze fabrics, but I really thought this would be a pattern to let the fabrics shine.  I'm glad I struggled through with it, but I can tell you right now that I would not do it again.  No more making quilts with double gauze!

For the quilting design I used an Anne Bright pattern called Fairy Tale, which shows up subtly on the front, but does show up well on the back.  I didn't post a photo, but for the back I used Kona Pomegranate (same as binding color).  If you like this pattern, check out Bec's site Chasing Cottons to find out how you can get a copy.
