Ok, so I'm sticking my hands up in the air for all kinds of things lately! Maybe some of you are familiar with the Ringo Pie Quilt Bee as a lot of its members are quite popular bloggers. We've seen some amazing things from them over the past year so a group of us wannabees (haha) decided to form another group along the same lines called Piece Bee With You. The idea is that every month one member chooses a theme and we (there are 12 members) all try to use our stashes (hopefully modern fabrics) to come up with a pieced block in said theme. This month Jane asked for dresses, but then elaborated the idea with examples of these blocks here.
Now, the idea of me joining a Bee that required drawing is quite laughable as I could be one of the world's worst drawers (even more laughable that I intend to be a long arm quilter!!). My son regularly asks me to draw for him a picture of a tractor and only his sweet little self could see the form a tractor in my drawings. So, I can tell you, that in producing a pieced block for the first time that I am quite proud of my efforts. My husband may have made a comment or two about this poor girl looking like a nun, but I am going to ignore that. I pushed the boundaries of size and made this the largest size that she wanted which is 10" X 10". I am not quite proficient enough to go smaller. Drafting was interesting, I ran into some hiccups, but I got my end result and that is all that matters. I did happen to let my boys play in the sewing room while I was working on this (I normally wait until nap time). I was just too excited about making this that I wanted a result right away. Today's job, clean the mess in the sewing room that they made while I was sewing.... haha.

Your block is faboo! I especially love the flowers you put on the ground. :) And I don't think your girl looks like a nun -- they don't normally wear pink dresses. :D
My son keeps asking me to draw a train. (I regularly manage to get the engine facing the wrong way...)
Ha Ha! Just laughing at the wannabe description, so true!! Your block came out amazing. Just posted mine up too... a serious mess when you look at th back side :)
