I have been busy sewing this week, but not posting much on the computer due to headaches and tiredness this last week. I think I went to bed at 8 o'clock three days in a row now. The boys, starting up at tennis again and the warm weather has been wearing me out. Oh well, it's all good. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and swimming in the river again soon:) That will really wear me out in a good way...
Last week I was chatting with a fellow blogger Mamaspark about what to do with our Prince Charming fabric. She came up with all kinds of great ideas!!! One of the ideas was to make a disappearing nine patch. I've never been interested in a disappearing nine-patch previously, but somehow setting it on point makes me suddenly love it as a pattern! Ok, I was considering doing this quilt with the Prince Charming fabrics, but I was cutting up the Heirloom for my Etsy shop. It was already cut into neat 5 inch squares and somehow these Heirloom fabrics seemed more fitting for this design. So, I paired them with Kona Snow and Kona Stone and voila, here is the quilt top. I did find that I didn't like the technique of cutting the nine patch in half. I found that the pieces were too imprecise so I trimmed each one down to 6.5" blocks and it worked perfectly that way. Oh, and by the way, there has been a lot of talk on Flickr about the lesser quality feeling of this Heirloom fabric. I would agree. But, for those of you familiar with the quality of Kona cottons--they feel just about the same as them. It really is a shame that we are not getting the beautiful smooth quality fabrics that we once did. Will we ever get anything as wonderful as Heather Ross's Lightning Bugs line or similar again? Probably not for the price we once paid anyway:(

So pretty! I am working on a quilt with the Heirloom prints too but mine is not nearly as cute as yours.
Wow I really like this quilt! I swear you have the entire line of all the best fabrics! I haven't gotten any JD yet but I like what you have done with them!

Very, very, very nice!
It looks very pretty, I love that pattern with these fabrics.
Gorgeous quilt love the pattern!
What a beautiful quilt top. I love the colors and wish my tops looked that good when I got done with them.
I love this. I normally don't like disappearing 9 patches but this is sooo classy. The white and stone really set off the JD.
The stone setting squares really set it off, it looks great!
Really love what you did with the disappearing 9-patch!
I would have never quessed this was a disappearing nine patch pattern! It looks so cool! This is definitely going on my "to make" list.
Great job! Love the pattern on point - can I ask please how many 5" charms you used for this quilt top?
Thanks too for your honest opinion about the fabric's feel - good and bad points of fabric is not discussed online enough, I think!
Did you use a certain pattern for this or is it your own design? Its lovely!
I love this quilt, so fresh and beautiful.
Disappearing nine-patch on point! How clever! And how gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing!
