Trying Out the Background Color

Well, I was good this weekend, I did finish the piecing the border on the Summer in the City quilt and now only am waiting for more brown fabric to finish the outer border. I will post another picture when the top is finished.

I also worked on piecing the last 32 blocks for my 30's quilt. I am about half way through finishing them and happily my background fabrics arrived this morning! I chose three typical 30's colors because I still have a lot of 30's prints to use up and will need backgrounds for those future quilts. This allows me to "try out" what will work for this project. So, I laid them out and you can see in the photo how they might look. I now have a strong feeling for which one I would like to use, but I would like you to vote as well and hopefully you will be confirming my thoughts... I hope. Otherwise, I might have to have a real think about it. Please let me know which one. Thanks!

You may be sorry you did this if the vote is split! I vote for the green.

I like them all and really can't decide. I think if you like the cooler shades then the blue or green would look really nice or for a warmer and more fresh look the yellow would be a good choice. Thinking about it now I really like the yellow. It's followed closeley by the blue....and then the green???? I don't think I've been much help. Now I am confused.

Why don't you make it just the way it is with all three. I really like that. It certainly makes the quilt happy.

I like the rainbow effect with all three of them, too! But if I had to choose one, it would be the blue...

I like the green :)

OK, firstly I would say not the blue - it is lovely but when you cover the other 2 up and look at just the blue, it doesn't look very 30's. So I'm down to the green and yellow. I cover up the yellow and blue and look at just the green and I'm thinking yep that looks really nice. But then when I look at just the yellow, I immediately say YES! That's the one!

But that's just me:) Really, any one of them would be beautiful - pick which one makes you feel all 'tingly' inside!

I also like the combination of all three colors together. It would make for a very unique quilt! If you'd prefer not to go that route, I think I would probably go with the yellow.

I vote either green or all three. All three is not typical of the time but the green surely is!

I've got to say yellow- it's so bright and cheery, but then, depending on the ultimate purpose of this quilt, I also love the green... the blue is the only oneI don't LOVE.

I like all the colours and would perhaps go for top and bottom sashings in one and side sashings in another if that makes any sense - lol ! The other I would use for a skinny border.

I like all three also - but if I could only pick one... I would say green.

Isn't it funny! When I saw you had 13 comments I thought they would all say "blue". But they don't!!! I like the blue (incase you couldn't tell).

the green would be my vote, seems to be true to the 30's theme.
having said that, I like the look of the yellow.

It's funny reading all the other comments. I would have to vote for the green although I think any would be fine.

I'm not voting on this one. =) What I'm curious about, though, is how you manage to put together so many quilts in such a short amount of time and once you've made them, what do you do with them? They're amazing! I love how your Summer in the City one is turning out!

A combination of all would be lovely, when I have to choose I would say green than blue and than yellow. I think with the yellow you get more a 30's idea.
